Our Mission

We aim to provide current information and analysis on the Mongolian media landscape and its development trends and by doing so, encourage and expand the exchange of information on media research.
We also hope to support journalists and the media industry in their investigation and delivery of quality news and production, and assist in improving their knowledge and skills of the market.
The Press Institute's research team has implemented over 40 short and long-term research projects on different issues of Media development in Mongolia.
Each year, the Press Institute conducts research into Mongolia's current media market and prints the “Mongolian Media Monitoring Report”. (PRESS RELEASE)
The Research Department conducts quantitative and statistical research that looks at media developments and trends, patterns of ownership, employment in the industry, media in rural areas as well as an in depth study into advertising, subscription and circulation figures. The statistics are collated from over 400 media organizations operating in Ulaanbaatar and throughout the country. The report also provides invaluable information about audience and viewership in Ulaanbaatar, Darkhan, Erdenet, Baganuur, Nalaikh and Zuunmod.
Many businesses use this report to determine their own business and advertising strategies, but it can also be useful for others to gain a better understanding about the current market and to provide valuable and up-to-date information on the constantly-changing Mongolian media industry.
Several businesses and broadcast networks in Ulaanbaatar regularly subscribe to services conducted by the PI Research Department, receiving audience data, market research and marketing strategies tailored to their needs.
The Research department operates independently from any political and/or economic interests, solely relying on scientific methods when collecting and processing information and strictly following the principle of respecting the interests of media organisations.
