The nature of the rural media in Mongolia is remarkably different to that of Ulaanbaatar. Journalists working in rural aimags have limited opportunities and access to education and training. The Press Institute works to combat this inequality by bringing rural journalists to Ulaanbaatar and sending journalism trainers to the provinces.
Training for journalists working in the provinces must be tailored to meet their needs and overcome some of the specific challenges they face.
Recent training has been conducted in Orvokhangai Aimag in central Mongolia and Khovd Aimag in the West.
